App UI and Website SEO Improvements

Build in Public

Lately, I’m making an effort to #buildinpublic on Twitter. I’m hoping this effort will build some momentum and push me to do a little development every day and move the needle.

App UI Redesign

This morning I’m working on improving Mimic’s UI. The app is currently locked to portrait mode, which will become a problem when I introduce on-device video recording. So, I’m moving to an icon based “app launcher” UI.

Initially, I liked the stripe based buttons as it echoed the shape from the header. But the tiled approach, I feel, will be far more practical as the app expands functionality.

Also, I needing to create an app store UI page now. I’ve submitted Mimic to the App store a few times and it’s been kicked back. The latest app store rejection says I need a restore purchases button. Rather than muck up the existing launcher UI, the logical conclusion is another screen. This will also open up the opportunity and screen space to add more purchase options, if/when I get to that point. But, I’m sticking with a one-time purchase right now as I’m more focused on attracting a core user base and early adopters.

WordPress SEO

In addition, I’ve installed All in One SEO plugin on the blog, in an effort to get Twitter cards working, but it looks like this will be a welcome improvement to my social media presence. It definitely increases my awareness of the possible avenues for social media exposure. For example, there are QUITE A FEW sites that I don’t even have accounts on, which I will remedy in the coming days.
